Yes, this is real wood! Each is made in the USA from sequential sheets of veneer hand-selected for outstanding character and figure. These veneers are permanently bonded to a resin-saturated paper backing which allows maximum flexibility. Each sheet then goes through a multi-step sanding process for a perfect finish. High-end veneers like these are great for heirloom furniture, cabinetry, stereo speakers, and automotive dashboards.
Staining & Finishing
Since this paper-backed veneer is a real wood product, it can be stained/dyed easily and requires no special top-coats or finishes. Aniline dyes, oil and water based stains, Transtints, polyurethane, lacquer, conversion varnish, shellac, and tung oil are all compatible with our paper-backed veneers.

Review by Ted Jackson (and son)
Rating:
When the top of our coffee table was damaged during a recent family visit I thought there was no way I could fix it. I didn't have much to lose by trying though since it would be thrown out otherwise. I peeled off the original veneer to see what the surface below was like and it was good enough to warrant a try with this veneer. So my son placed the order and we applied it with the contact cement and scarper sold on this website. The project came out well. We applied a bit of Minwax stain and a clear finish from a spray can. The table looks as good as new at this point.
I'm very happy with the customer support from this company and the way my orders was processed and shipped. They emailed me a tracking number for the shipment about 3 hours after I ordered. In fact when they emailed me, the order had already shipped which is rather incredible. I couldn't ask for a better ordering experience.
