Incredible Box of Veneer

The "incredible box" is back! If I recall correctly, we haven't had these for over a year. My wife and I put an insane amount of effort into packing these boxes with beautiful veneers from around the world. We've offered these boxes in the past and each came with a nice array of species, but the batch that we just made is simply incredible! We even pulled some very nice veneers from my own collection to help fill these boxes.
Most boxes will have 75 to 90 sheets of veneer inside. There may be consecutive sheets of some veneers in each box which might give you the opportunity to create bookmatched patterns.
We actually put about 110 square feet of veneer in each box but some splits and cracks should be expected that will reduce the total yield. The 36" x 12" x 4" box weighs approximately 11 lbs. We do not fill the box based on volume.

Below is the master list of all the veneers we used to create our current inventory of Incredible Boxes. We chose 15 to 20 of the veneers from this list to make each box.

Every Incredible Box contains a small sheet of Gabon Ebony!
Additional Notes:
- The thickness of most of these veneers is 1/45" inch.
- Veneer sizes range from 3" x 12" to 12" x 35" and sheet count varies.
- The veneers inside most likely will vary from one box to another.
- Most of the veneers are already flat and will not require veneer softener to flatten.
- Some veneers included in the box may not be available for purchase on our website.
- The species inside each box are not labeled.
- We can not custom-pack a box of veneer.
- These are raw wood veneers (no backing).
- There is a limit of two boxes per customer. Please contact us if you would like to order more than two boxes.
- We can only ship this item to addresses within the US due to export limitations on certain species.
- This product is non-returnable.
Questions & Answers
Are the veneers in each box labeled with the species name?
No. Labeling every veneer would be extraordinarily time-consuming and it would force me to increase the price by a very significant amount.
Can you identify a species in the box that I don't recognize?
Just send me a picture and I will do my best to help you out.
Can you remove the regulated species and then ship this outside of the US?
Unfortunately, we are unable to do that.
Is the box filled to the top with veneer?
We keep adding veneer until the box weighs at least 10 lbs. Many of the boxes weight up to 13 lbs, but even so, the box is not filled to the very top. We use packing paper to take up that empty space so the veneers arrive without damage.
Aren't these just scrap veneers?
I'm not sure how to answer that since it depends on what you mean by "scrap". These veneers are usually off cuts from various bundles that we have or have had on our website. In some cases, these veneers are off cuts from bundles that were too long to fit on our shelves. And some are simply extra sheets we had remaining from odd shipments of veneer. Considering that these are mostly veneer sheets that we paid top dollar to acquire, it is hard for me to consider them scraps.

I just received my box. Holy ___ is it fantastic. I am taking a marquetry class at Palomar College and have a large project ahead. Everything I need is in the box with an eclectic mix of high end veneers - even a few sequenced flitches. Probably gonna have to build some boxes and shelves to show off the leftover veneers. I ordered an incredible box a while back to get a taste of working with veneers. With the incredible box I was able to make a bunch of chess boards with a playing surface on one side and other designs on the opposing side. Working with the veneer has been a lot of fun. My family ordered me another incredible box for my birthday and opening the box brings me back to my sports card collecting days, just pure excitement, and anticipation as to what goodies might be inside. So much so that I ordered another box on my own which I am expecting tomorrow. My last box had some nice looking Ziricote, Red Gum, Koa, some sheets of burl and many many other beautiful pieces. I was pleasantly surprised by the veneers in my "incredible box". About a third of them are domestic species, a third are exotics, and third are ones I have never seen before this. There was also a sequenced stack of teak inside as well. I also got some ebony! I couldn't be happier with this. An incredible box of of veneers! Some have splits but all are very useable. While unpacking the box I was very excited to see veneers I never had the need to purchase. And never had seen them in the raw state. I bought the box hoping to make repairs on vintage radios. If you had to purchase all these veneers you would spend a fortune, plus you need another shop just to store the veneers. Now the hard part, identifying them!

I have bought two. Both purchases were way above my expectation for value and quality. It is a joy dealing with a small family run business. I bought one for my daughter to do glow forge marquetry experiments which came out beautifully. Anyone with a laser will love this. The second one I got for small boxes and similar projects. The quality is excellent. Great variety. You probably cant do a large case piece with this, but I plan to try some whiskey bottle gift box sized projects.

Wasn't Expecting Much - I Was Wrong!

There is a lot that could be written about this veneer box because of the variety and volume of veneer inside. I ordered a box on whim since it looked like a pretty reasonable deal. I didn't expect much. I was wrong... this box is fairly incredible. My box contained some sheets of teak, birds eye maple, quartersawn oak, ebony, curly maple, some random unknown burl, and about a dozen others. There was also some very unusual dyed veneer inside. I've never seen anything like this and so it got used on a jewelry box project right away. The box also included 4 sheets of perfectly sequenced curly walnut which is just a beautiful wood. There is enough veneer here to last me a lifetime. Woohoo!

I've never had any issues with orders from Veneer Supplies so I always expect the best from them. This box was no exception. What they shipped in my box of veneer is amazing. I have all sort of species including the promised piece of super-black ebony. A single sheet of that veneer costs $20 by itself. I also received Birds Eye Maple, Teak, Ziricote, and Rosewood. They included a small sequenced bundle of Larch which I've never heard of but it is very nice looking wood. I'm so excited to get started with this veneer. This box is a great deal. No complaints whatsoever from me.

I said out loud 'holy smokes' when I opened my box of veneer this morning. This is some nice veneer inside. My wife came running to see what I was so excited about and even she was fairly amazed at what we got. There is some packaging paper material on the top of the box but below that is a thick stack of a variety of veneers. This could last me a lifetime of projects. It is a great bargain. Quick shipping was a bonus. I ordered Monday night and it arrived on a Thursday morning. This website filled with information about veneering so I'm confident I will be able to use all of the beautiful veneer.

I read one review of this box in which the reviewer said he felt like a kid at Christmas. My box arrived by coincidence on Christmas Eve and I did not have time to look at it until Xmas afternoon. When I did, I literally felt like a kid at Christmas! The box was full of many good quality veneers in usable quantities. As a woodworker new to veneer I am working my way through a book called The Marquetry Course and I have already used the paduak, maple, and one I couldn't identify for a gallery tray! Good Quality but No Labels

A very nice selection of veneers. There are some good quality pieces included in sizes large enough for some small projects. My only regret is that the pieces are not labeled in any way so it would be difficult known what to order for another project.
[Note from Joe: The product page explains that there are no labels on the veneer. I could put labels on all 75 to 90 sheets in the box but the cost of the box would be more than DOUBLE. As mentioned on the product page, I welcome any emails requesting help with identifying the veneers.]

I can tell you here and now that these veneers are the best Veneers I have ever worked with. Hands down the beauty of the veneers is like pure beauty poured into a box and shipped to my home. Honestly, I did not expect to get so many beautiful veneers due the fact that the box is cut offs. But let me tell you that I had more lovely veneers than expected, to the point that I honestly can not say that not a single veneer was ugly and not worth having. I'm new to veneering and needed some options on colors and patterns. I had my own (thick) veneers I had made and they were…um…ok. Now I have some proper veneers from VeneerSupplies for comparison and the positive difference is substantial! I was like a kid at Xmas going through this box of veneers and I cannot wait to work with them! While very few pieces are singles, most are in sequential pairs, threes, and even a few 5 sheet pairings. While I don't love every single sheet, I realize I need a backing veneer, so I already have plans for those sheets, too. Do yourself a favor, try these once, see the quality, and enjoy the selection! This "is" an incredible box of veneer. There are a lot of good types of wood veneer, not the typical cheap/boring ones but good and worthy ones. Ones that you can't wait to think of projects to use them. The size of the veneers are very good and some are stack of 12 nice sequential veneers. The quality is excellent too. I am new to veneer woodworking and this box is a good way for me to try out different kind of woods. With these kind of quality veneers and varieties, I think it well worth the original price, not to say I am getting it with the bargain price. This is the first time I bought from VeneerSupplies and their products and services exceeded my expectation.

What a great value!!! I was blown away by the quantity and size of the veneers I received and then when I sorted through the individual veneers I was even more pleased. The quality is insane. Figured wood, some crotch, book matched sets, burls. I expected to see 10 boring wood species with a few sheets of veneer and 5 exotic species with tiny samples. It was almost the opposite. Now I have to design more projects to use them because otherwise it would be such a waste not to put them to use!

I just received this box of veneers and they are fantastic! I assumed it would be mostly scraps which was fine since I was planning to work with them on little boxes but there are several sheets of the same species, long and wide enough for me to redo my boyfriend's speakers from the 80s. I can't wait to start working with them, and the bargain hunter in me wants to order another box immediately before they sell out.

All I can say is that this company is amazing. I ordered the Incredible Box of Veneer as a starting point with veneering and to get some species that I've never heard of before. This box went way above and beyond my expectations. Ended up with 22 different piles (21 different species I think) and a total of 132 sheets of veneer. So much figure in them, a ton of options with sequential cuts for book matching, some pieces over 10 inches wide, with very little in checking in the pieces. We just received another bargain bin box of veneer and as usual it was filled with truly beautiful veneers! High quality, low price and Joe I get them delivered so fast I think you must drop them off at my shop on the way home even though I live in rural Florida! Because of your bargain box of veneers, I have tried some varieties I might not chose at first glance when ordering but because of the different woods you send it lets me experiment a bit, with some very good results! We make marquetry jewelry boxes and whenever you send us a new box of veneer we can hardly wait to see what exotic woods are inside, we also like the fact that you are always adding new varieties! When my box arrived, on time as usual, I spent the entire afternoon just admiring each piece. It definitely exceeded my expectations, but then everything I have purchased from Veneer Supplies has exceeded my expectations. This box of veneers was truly far beyond expectations. As soon as I opened the box I was going to be delighted based on my first glimpse. This is more than a sample box. There is enough material here to add a beautiful finish to a number of presentation boxes and small furniture projects. There are several species with consecutive veneers allowing for some great combinations. I am a hobbyist but I design many of my own pieces. This box has already inspired some new projects.

I just received the veneer box. Like everything else that I have purchased from Veneers Supplies it met or exceeded my expectations and, as always, the customer service was excellent. I will pick and choose from these to create a marquetry inlay to repair a water damaged area on the top of a built in dresser on a $1 million yacht. I am an advanced hobbiest woodworker and occasionally I do a "commissioned" project like the above repair. I have built a lot of furniture from solid woods but only began veneering a few years ago when I started buying from Veneer Supplies. They got me started with not only veneer and supplies but also the vacuum pump system kit and most importantly Joe's know how that kept me from making a lot of mistakes that would have happened if I tried to figure things out on my own. The products are good to great and the customer service is terrific. I would recommend Veneer Supplies to anyone doing veneer whether they are just getting started or are a seasoned expert. Frankly, they could charge more and still be a great deal.

This box is amazing. I bought one of these boxes during a previous assortment, and got a bunch of species, most of which had consecutive sheets. I mainly do small projects, so this box gave me a wide variety of things to try at the same price as just a few sheets or small lots of veneer if bought separately. The customer service was great and email response was fast. Joe identified a couple of species by email that I had trouble identifying myself. I'd buy one of these boxes too, if I had made it through even half of my original box. As soon as I do make it through, I'll be sure to get another the next time it is offered.

I ordered this sample box and upon opening the box I realized I had a problem. I'm going to have to up my game to do these veneers justice. A few of the sheets had splits in them due to the gorillas in the shipping pipeline but should press out fine. I will be ordering more from Joe when I get through this box.

OMG!!! As others have said... THIS IS JUST ONE BIG BOX OF INSPIRATION!
I even got a piece of blue dyed figured ?something?. I'm not sure what species it is and it doesnt even matter! It instantly screamed "Jewelry Box" for my daughter. The whole box is full of great pieces. Most of them have at least 2 in series for bookmatching. The sheer surprise when opening this box is so worth the cost. The fact that you also get some excellent veneer is a bonus. Also, at just under $12 for shipping, there is not many if any better deals out there. I would recommend this to anyone.

Received your UPS boxes today and was very excited to go through the 20# of assorted veneers. I found, I believe, 25 different species of all different grains, cuts & textures. I was very impressed with the selection especially the possibilities that arise with the several sequential veneer lots. All were in great shape and uniform in thickness. I sent you pictures of the assortment and you graciously wrote back, within an hour, identifying each lot/sheet. It was a pleasure working with you and your company.

Amazing assortment of veneer for the price. Included were; 12 sequential sheets of 6x30 birdseye maple, 10 seq sheets of 9x26 lacewood, 15 sheets of 9x30-36 padauk, 20 sheets of 7-10x36 curly maple, along with 2-5 sheets of: figured sapele, mahogany crotch, rosewood, zebrawood, and some amazing silver-dyed curly maple. There were more, but I stopped counting. Highly recommended. As far as I'm concerned I just bought 20 pounds of inspiration.

I was a little disappointed when I first opened the veneer box that I had ordered from Veneersuppplies.com. It seems to be filled with a lot of white oak and some imported veneer. But as I removed bundle after bundle from the box I began to see some veneers that I had not seen before. I emailed Joe some pictures and within a couple hours, he replied with species names for each. I'd probably give this a four star rating but the customer service here is 10 star and that makes all the difference. With that said, I want to mention that this veneer box had a crazy amount of sheets in it. I was just hoping to get a lot more burl veneer.

Great deal! I'd buy more if I had room. My box had redwood burl, cherry, imbuya, and some other woods that I had to send pictures to Joe for identification. The shipping cost for my order was less about $15 but this is a heavy box and its filled to the top with veneer.

I ordered one of these boxes a couple of weeks ago and was pleasantly surprised by what I found inside. My order consisted of some really nice walnut, oak, and cherry but the big surprise was several sequenced sheets of prima vera. My best guess is that there is more like 300 square feet in the box. Today I ordered another box and I'm hoping it will be equally surprising. Kind of like Christmas around here!
