Box of Marquetry Veneer

Product Description
If you're into marquetry, these boxes might be perfect for you. Get them while you can because the last batch I offered sold out in a few weeks and it was a year until I was able to offer these again. Each box contains about 50 square feet of raw (unbacked) veneer.
The thickness of these veneers is approximately 1/45" inch. Sizes range from 1" x 3" to 8" x 10" and sheet count varies. The box we use is 12" x 9" x 7" and weighs more than 4 lbs. There are typically more than 100 pieces of veneer in each box.

Additional Notes and News:
- Each box is unique therefore the veneers inside will vary from one box to another.
- There may be additional species included that are not listed above.
- The species inside each box are not labeled.
- Some splits and cracks should be expected that will reduce the total yield.
- We can not custom-pack a box of veneer.
- These are raw wood veneers (no backing).
- A limit of two boxes per customer will be strictly enforced.
- We can only ship this item to addresses within the US due to export limitations on certain species.
- This product is non-returnable.
Since these boxes contain species that can not be shipped out of the US, can you custom pack a box for me that has veneer which can be shipped to other countries?
Unfortunately, I can not offer to do that. I apologize for the inconvenience.
How much veneer softener do I need to flatten the veneers in this box?
There is really no way to answer this. I've looked at calculating this many ways but it is impossible to figure out and I'd be so far off that it would make me look like a fool or a liar. Each box has varying amounts of veneer and varying percentages of the veneer inside that actually need the softener. With that said, I think you will find that the 8 oz bottle of veneer softener goes further than you might expect.

As I divided my assortment of veneer between common (unfigured domestics) and prime (burls, figured, rare exotics), I found the stacks nearly equal. As others noted, there were many sequential mini-packs. Overall the value in these boxes is flat out unheard of.

As with the "Big" box assortment, the amount of fine veneers for the price is amazing. One box I purchased had a nice variety with many sequential flitches, perfect for the boxes I build. Another box seemed like it was "Maple Day", many, many varieties of maple, from burl to birdseye.

Size varies, but pieces are big enough for most inlay designs, and there are usually a few sequential pieces of each type of veneer for book matching. My students and I use these pieces for inlay and marquetry, both hand cut and laser cut in our school's Fab Lab.

Just received my order - A box of random marquetry veneers. Gotta tell you that it felt a lot like Christmas when I saw the beautiful wood inside. Big pieces, book matches, amazing variety. I received my first box and I was blown away at the quality and size. I was expecting a box full of basic smaller leftover pieces dumped in randomly. All the veneer was stacked wonderfully in tight overlapping piles of 2 to 5 of the many different types and much larger than expected. You will definitely get your money's worth and more.

I've bought several of the boxes of marquetry veneer and have been happy every time. The quality and variety of veneer is really great. Often there are several pieces making up a small flitch. Some of it is good backer veneer, while much of it is awesome exotic show piece veneer. Its always a fun surprise to get these and see what I have to work with.

This is one of the best values for people starting to learn marquetry or for people who need some project inspiration (nothing to spark creativity like a box of random materials). My box had a wide assortment of species and many interesting pieces (burls, figured pieces, etc.), and multiple matched sheets throughout. It had almost no cracked/broken sheets.
