TransTints are highly concentrated, metal-complex liquid dyes used in woodworking and finishing to color wood. They can also be used to tone and tint clear finishes such as shellac, lacquer, and water-based polyurethane. Simply mix with water or with alcohol for deep penetration. All TransTint dyes are intermixable with each other, so custom colors can be easily created.
These dyes are more lightfast when compared to conventional aniline powdered type dye stains. This unique concentrated formulation allows the user great latitude in using the dye because it is compatible with such a wide variety of finishing products. No waiting or straining is necessary because the dye compound is pre-dissolved!
Please note that the Transtint bottle style may vary.

I am refurbishing a Kentucky .50 cal long rifle I first made from a kit in 1976. It seems to take more effort to do this than when I did it the first time. I decided to use a dye rather than a stain this time. The TransTint Dark walnut was PERFECT. Easy to work with and better wood grain definition and attractiveness!! Excellent choice for me.

The only thing I use to color wood! Works great to dye wood or add to a clear coat for a toner!! I’ve been using Transtint for many years. You can even add it to glue to change the color!

I needed to darken a cabinet that's been stained with an oil based product. Just rough mixed 2 colors in shellac and got the perfect color! Couple coats of urethane and done. Customers very happy with the results.

Embraced the TransTint Dye products about a decade ago. As a furniture maker, these are invaluable for custom finishes, color matching, and even mixing colored lacquers. So versatile. I keep a full compliment of 14 colors so I'm prepared for almost any finishing challenge that arises. Veneer Supplies is my favorite source, as the service is second to none. Bonus: pricing and shipping are the best deal going. They've earned my trust over many years and many fine products here.

Have bought this product from Joe a number of times, along with a bunch of veneer. Always more than satisfied with the shipping time and quality of product. This dye works wonderfully, and this is the cheapest place online to source it, even including shipping. Thanks!
