PTFE tape is used on all brass to brass threaded connections to help create a sealed union. It's important to remember that the tape itself does not actually seal the threads. Theoretically the seal is made where the tapering of the brass fittings comes together. The threead tape simply makes the surface more slippery so the fittings can be attached tighter.

Each roll has 260" of 1/2" wide PTFE tape.
