TransTints are highly concentrated, metal-complex liquid dyes used in woodworking and finishing to color wood. They can also be used to tone and tint clear finishes such as shellac, lacquer, and water-based polyurethane. Simply mix with water or with alcohol for deep penetration. All TransTint dyes are intermixable with each other, so custom colors can be easily created.
These dyes are more lightfast when compared to conventional aniline powdered type dye stains. This unique concentrated formulation allows the user great latitude in using the dye because it is compatible with such a wide variety of finishing products. No waiting or straining is necessary because the dye compound is pre-dissolved!
Please note that the Transtint bottle style may vary.

TransTint dyes are easy to use and when used with alcohol doesn't raise the wood grain. The mixing of the dyes makes matching of an existing stain very easy as well as matching the colors of different woods. I have used TransTint for many years and find the product quality to always be high.

The Golden Brown turned my alder back into a nice shade of mahogany to contrast the curly maple top. Worked great! A suggestion is to make a pin hole in the top of the bottle rather than slice the top completely off. This allows more precise control of the number of drops of dye.

I've been using Transtint for over 15 years. I mix the Golden Brown and Medium Brown to achieve the dye color I apply on Stickley furniture before sealing with shellac. I use a mixture of alcohol/lacquer thinner so I don't raise the grain on the white oak.
I buy Transtint from Joe because of price and service. Go Joe!

We've put two additions on our Craftsman 4-square home and used the TransTint Golden Brown Dye to match the existing trim from 1917. It's perfect and gives the wood a warmth that you can't get elsewhere. Thanks Veneer Supplies for the quality products, quick service, and great prices!
