TransTints are highly concentrated, metal-complex liquid dyes used in woodworking and finishing to color wood. They can also be used to tone and tint clear finishes such as shellac, lacquer, and water-based polyurethane. Simply mix with water or with alcohol for deep penetration. All TransTint dyes are intermixable with each other, so custom colors can be easily created.
These dyes are more lightfast when compared to conventional aniline powdered type dye stains. This unique concentrated formulation allows the user great latitude in using the dye because it is compatible with such a wide variety of finishing products. No waiting or straining is necessary because the dye compound is pre-dissolved!
Please note that the Transtint bottle style may vary.

This is the cheapest way to get a candy intercoat color without paying automotive paint prices. One percent is all that was needed. Great value. The color was exactly what I needed and I wouldn't bother with any other tints on the market.

I just got through using this product to stain a guitar body with a curly maple top. It came out exactly how wanted. It is so easy to get the mix right, at least when mixing with water. I haven't tried it with alcohol, but i imagine it wouldn't be much different. I order all of my TransTint dyes from Joe because they are so easy to use and he ships them out right away. It takes about 3 days to get here to Texas.

I just used this tonight for the first time. I mixed it with tap water about 50/50 and wiped it on a piece of veneer that I am using to cover a project I am working on. It's amazing how well it works - a beautiful purple dye with no streaking or blotchiness at all - so easy! I am absolutely thrilled with the result! 10/10 will buy again.
