Extra Large Walnut Burl

cat-walnut-burl-better.jpgThis is our selection of extra large walnut burl veneers. The rich brown color is frequently accented with a light coat of penetrating stain, which brings out the figure in these wood veneer sheets. Walnut is one of only a handful of species that lightens with exposure to UV light. Vintage walnut furniture pieces are usually very warm in color. This lightening process can take a couple of weeks to several years to fully develop.

Our listing of small and large size walnut burl veneers is available here.

Looking for even larger sheets of this species? We also offer this in 4' x 8' paper-backed veneer, which can be applied with contact cement or any other veneer adhesive.

Did You Know?   Walnut burl usually comes from the root bole of walnut trees, where a large ball often occurs. This is most common on orchard trees, which are northern California walnut (Juglans hindsii) with the nut producing English walnut (Juglans regia) grafted to it. Some burl may also be found at the graft line of these trees. The burls are sustainably harvested when the trees are removed to replant the orchard.

Tip from Joe

I've found that cell phones and tablets display reasonably accurate colors of our veneer photos.

Rendering variations on some computer monitors can cause our pictures to appear different from the actual veneer.
