Current Freeze Protection Status: OPTIONAL

pg-freeze-protect.jpgThe Problem
Some Better Bond™ adhesives are not freeze-thaw stable. The glue product will become unusable if it freezes in transit or on your door step. Please keep in mind that the temperature at your location may be very different than the temperature here in Maryland, where your order will be traveling in a shipper's unheated truck. And no matter where you live, your adhesive order may have to travel through states that have below-freezing temperatures.

Here is the list of adhesives which can not be allowed to freeze.

  • Heat Lock™
  • Titan DX™
  • Flex-Pro™
  • TC-20™

The Solution
We have developed a system using 72-hour jumbo package warmers to reduce the possibility of product damage. In some cases, we may opt to use styrofoam peanuts along with package warmers. This protection increase the price of the product, but we offer it as a service to our customers instead of simply discontinuing the shipment of these adhesives during cold winter months. The pricing for freeze protection ranges from $5 to $9 depending on the size of the adhesive you select.

This solution works well when temperatures remain above 22° F. Take a look at a weather website at your zip code and ours (21050) to see the local temperatures when ordering to decide if you would like freeze protection on your adhesive shipment.

This system is far less effective when temperature drops below 22° F. Therefore orders containing non-freezable adhesives will not ship until the temperatures between our location and the shipping destination rise above that which our freeze protection method can withstand.

If we opt to use package warmers, please note that they may not still be warm upon arrival. They are typically used to build some warmth into the glue during transit. The warmers stop working after 72 hours, but by that time they have warmed the glue enough to prevent freezing.

Status Type: Mandatory, Optional, and Suspended
Freeze protection is "mandatory" when our local or regional temperatures are below 32° F. This typically only occurs during January, February, and March. We make freeze protection "optional" when the longer-term local and regional temperatures are above freezing for five consecutive days.

A status of "suspended" means that the regional temperatures are colder than our package warming solution can handle, and so we are currently not accepting orders for any adhesives that require freeze protection.

Waiver of Liability
We offer no warranty on the product if you do not select the freeze protection option. If the product freezes in transit or at your door step and you did not select the Freeze Protection option on your order, then we will not replace or refund the adhesive or shipping cost.
