Fumed White Oak Wood Veneer

Fumed Oak VeneerThe veneer in this category has been exposed to gaseous ammonia in an air-tight chamber for three to four weeks. Veneers with a high tannin content react to this process and the wood darkens. The effect can range from a mild darkening in species such as red gum to a deep and rich black in high-tannin species such as oak. We have hand-selected our stock for the highest grade and most pleasant color.

Though the prime benefit of fuming is the amazing depth of color that is added, you will also find fumed veneers are easier to bend, trim, and bond to a substrate. The fuming process does not introduce any health-endangering content to the veneer.

The fuming of oak and other species have been around for many decades. Popularity of this type of veneer has been rising in recent years because of the rich color that looks amazing when a penetrating clear coat is applied.

Tip from Joe

I've found that cell phones and tablets display reasonably accurate colors of our veneer photos.

Rendering variations on some computer monitors can cause our pictures to appear different from the actual veneer.
