Even in its unfinished state and despite the somewhat coarse grain, it has a satin-like shimmer giving the illusion of having a lightly-lacquered surface. Few species have such a wild array of brown and red coloring. There is no need to stain it as it looks simply gorgeous with just a clear finish applied.
