Fiddleback English Sycamore Wood Veneer

English Sycamore VeneerThis species of maple (yes, it is a species of maple) is often difficult to decifer from American maple. The English sycamore grain is somewhat less smooth than American maple but it can vary from log to log. Figured quartersawn English sycamore is in very high demand.

Looking for large sheets of this species? We also offer it in AA grade paper-backed veneer which can be applied with contact cement or any other veneer adhesive.

Common Name:
Sycamore plane, great maple, English maple
Scientific Name:
  Acer pseudoplatanus
  Butter cream to white
Central Europe, France, Ukraine, Southwestern Asia, Spain, Turkey
  Primarily soft
  Fine texture
Readily accepts stains and finishes. Dye stains make curly sycamore shimmer like no other species.
Did You Know:

The name "sycamore" originally belonged to the fig species Ficus sycomorus which is native to southwest Asia. This is the sycamore referred to in the Bible but the name was later applied to English sycamore because of similarity in the leaf shape.

Tip from Joe

I've found that iPhones and iPads display reasonably accurate colors of our veneer photos.
Rendering variations on some computer monitors can cause our pictures to appear different from the actual veneer.
