We all have those "brain-fart" moments when we forget to correctly position a project inside the vacuum bag. The vacuum press is turned and you hear the pop or whoosh when the project pierces the bag. At this point, a few choice words are typically spoken and you stand there wishing to turn back the clock by just 30 seconds. I've been there and done that more times than I care to discuss.
The patch kit consists of HH-66 cement (4 oz.) and a piece of 30 mil Duramax™ vinyl or 20 mil Duramax™ Elite polyurethane. With the option menu above, you can select the type of patch material and the number of 10" x 10" patches required for the repair.
Vinyl Bags
To patch a small hole in your vinyl vacuum bag, cut a piece of vinyl approximately 1" square. In a well ventilated area, prepare the patch and exterior of the bag using acetone or xylene. Very fine steel wool or a Scotch-Brite pad will aid in the cleaning process. Be sure that no residue is left on the surface of the vinyl when you are finished. Apply a coat of HH-66 cement to the bag exterior and the patch. Apply the patch to the bag and press it down using a J-roller or a seam tool. Allow the patch to dry for at least 6 hours before using the vacuum bag.
Polyurethane Bags
Patching a polyurethane bag is similar to the process for vinyl except the vinyl cement requires 24 hours to cure and the patch must be clamped in position for this duration. To patch a small hole in your polyurethane vacuum bag, cut a patch approximately 1" square. In a well ventilated area, prepare the patch and exterior of the bag using acetone or xylene. Very fine steel wool or a Scotch-Brite pad will aid in the cleaning process. Be sure that no residue is left on the surface of the polyurethane when you are finished. Apply a coat of HH-66 cement to the bag exterior and the patch. Apply the patch to the bag and clamp it in place (with a flat board and plenty of weight). Allow the patch to dry for at least 24 hours before using the vacuum bag.

I asked Joe to offer a patch kit after I tore a hole through my bag (also purchased from here) while rushing a clamp job. Not only did he offer the kit, but he had it available in less than a week and at a super reasonable price. I've ordered from Joe a few times, and each has time been a pleasure. Add to that all the questions he has answered for me in a VERY fast time frame. This site/store has the best prices that *I* have found on the internet for all things veneer. Thanks Joe!
